Role Context
This role is within the oil, gas or petrochemical processing sector and supports integrated project facilities through construction, commissioning, handover and start-up phases. The working environment may include remote plant locations, offshore settings and rotational assignments where specialist transportation may be required. The position interfaces with operations and commissioning teams as part of project delivery and operational readiness activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical operations input and support across detailed design, construction, commissioning and start-up phases.
- Demonstrate strong HSE leadership and maintain a high safety culture during construction and operational readiness activities.
- Support the execution of permit and work control activities through commissioning, hook-up and start-up phases.
- Review procedures and participate in commissioning and start-up activities as part of the operations or commissioning team.
- Assist with testing, punch listing, equipment handover and completion activities for systems transferred to operations.
- Support the development of preventive maintenance routines, procedure development, spare parts identification and tools planning.
- Provide technical input to layouts, plot plans and general arrangements from operability, maintainability and human factors perspectives.
- Execute maintenance and preservation routines for equipment handed over to operations.
- Participate in technical reviews including hazard and operability studies and layers of protection analysis.
- Support document reviews and contribute to discipline competence development.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Tertiary or vocational education in a technical discipline or another relevant qualification.
- Essential: Recognised technician apprenticeship or equivalent local requirement.
- Essential: Minimum 7 years of post-apprenticeship experience in gas, oil or petrochemical processing plants.
- Essential: Knowledge of permit to work, operations integrity, planning and risk assessment.
- Essential: Demonstrated troubleshooting capability within the mechanical discipline.
- Essential: Experience working with vendors and providing performance feedback.
- Essential: Willingness to work at height or in confined spaces, and in remote onshore or offshore plant environments.
- Essential: Significant international project experience across multicultural environments.
- Desirable: Previous experience supporting operations readiness, mechanical completion, commissioning, start-up, handover, preservation or maintenance readiness activities.
- Desirable: Experience gained on major oil and gas, LNG, FPSO, refinery, petrochemical or offshore developments.
