One of our clients, a major oil and gas company has tasked us with finding a Mechanical Technician to join their team in Calgary, Alberta on a 6-month contract with a high possibility of extension.
This is an entry-level opportunity suited for candidates with mechanical aptitude, technical training, or hands-on experience gained through education, internships, apprenticeships, or previous work experience. The Mechanical Technician will support maintenance activities, equipment reliability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts within a maintenance facility environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining equipment in accordance with established maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance practices. They will contribute to equipment readiness, support maintenance operations, and ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities within company systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance activities on assigned equipment in accordance with maintenance programs, standard work instructions, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
- Support on-time delivery of equipment to meet operational requirements.
- Record maintenance activities, labor hours, equipment movements, work orders, parts usage, and other maintenance data within computerized maintenance management systems.
- Follow established maintenance procedures and product line standards.
- Assist in improving equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and productivity within the maintenance base.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, improving equipment turnaround times, and enhancing asset utilization.
- Support repair and refurbishment programs, including the reuse of approved parts where applicable.
- Assist with failure investigations and root cause analysis activities as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with competency management requirements, company procedures, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel and other team members to achieve operational objectives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical diploma, mechanical trades training, or related education is considered an asset.
- Previous hands-on mechanical experience through work, co-op placements, internships, apprenticeships, or personal projects is an asset.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to interpret procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn maintenance management systems.
