Position Overview
Airswift is recruiting for a Naval Architecture Designer (Draftsman) (S) on behalf of a third-party company operating in the FPSO and offshore engineering sector. This Naval Architecture Designer (Draftsman) (S) opportunity is suited to candidates looking to contribute to technically demanding vessel design work focused on hull arrangements, marine layouts, and overall vessel functionality. The Naval Architecture Designer (Draftsman) (S) will support the delivery of safe, practical, and regulation-compliant design solutions that align with project requirements. This Naval Architecture Designer (Draftsman) (S) role offers exposure to multidisciplinary engineering coordination within a complex offshore project environment.
Role Context
This position sits within the FPSO, Oil & Gas, and shipbuilding environment, supporting projects related to hull arrangements, accommodation areas, marine systems, and vessel operability. The role involves working across naval architecture design activities in coordination with engineering disciplines supporting offshore vessel delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Produce and maintain naval architecture drawings for FPSO hull arrangements, general arrangements, tank layouts, deck layouts, and accommodation or living quarters.
Develop layouts that support stability, weight distribution, operability, safety, and maintainability across the vessel lifecycle.
Prepare drawings and design data to support naval architectural analysis related to stability, weight control, draft, trim, and vessel motions.
Incorporate interfaces for marine systems such as mooring, offloading, ballast, bilge, seawater, and marine piping into vessel layouts.
Prepare and update 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD and/or E3D in line with engineering inputs and constructability requirements.
Coordinate with structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, and outfitting disciplines to resolve layout clashes and interface issues.
Ensure designs comply with relevant classification society rules, offshore regulations, and industry standards.
Identify design constraints and technical risks early and escalate unresolved issues where required.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Design, or a related field, or a recognised design certificate.
Essential:
Understanding of naval architecture fundamentals including ship layout, compartmentation, stability principles, weight distribution, and vessel operability.
Essential:
Knowledge of FPSO concepts, offshore vessel operations, and marine system integration.
Essential:
0 to 5 years of experience in the FPSO, Oil & Gas, or shipbuilding industry within the Naval Architecture discipline.
Desirable:
Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and/or E3D software.
Desirable:
Exposure to FPSO hull layouts, accommodation or living quarters, marine systems, and vessel operation.
