Night Operator

Duration: Long-term assignment (initially 1 year with possibility of extension / go direct)
Location: Startford, Connecticut
Rotation: Monday - Friday, 9PM to 7AM (NIGHTS)

Position Overview

This Night Operator opportunity is suited to candidates seeking a technical manufacturing role within a process-driven production environment. The Night Operator will support safe and efficient plant operations, helping to produce finished product to specification while maintaining high standards of housekeeping and operational discipline. This Night Operator position offers involvement across core production activities, packaging, sampling, material movement, and equipment cleaning in a physically demanding setting. The Night Operator role is an excellent fit for candidates with relevant industrial, military, or academic background who can work effectively in a hazardous manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate process equipment safely and efficiently to produce finished product to specification.
  • Follow standard operating procedures across manufacturing activities including milling, blending, packaging, and operation of PLC-based control equipment.
  • Package materials to fulfil customer orders, ensuring packaging and weight requirements are met.
  • Produce to the production schedule while maintaining quality, safety, and process consistency.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise and support effective plant performance.
  • Assist with waste handling, required sample collection, and QC sampling activities.
  • Transport finished product and containers to the correct locations, including forklift operation where required.
  • Carry out equipment clean-outs and maintain a clean, organised plant area.
  • Provide support across production, shipping and receiving, and maintenance as needed.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 60 college credit hours; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of recent industry experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of military experience.
  • Ability to operate a forklift in a safe and prudent manner.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to safely handle drums greater than 300 pounds, with or without drum handling equipment.
  • Ability to wear a dust mask and half/full-face air-purifying respirator while carrying out job duties.
  • Ability to work within a heavy-duty manufacturing environment with multiple operational hazards.
