Operational Readiness Lead
The Operational Readiness Lead ensures that new facilities, equipment, and systems are designed, commissioned, and handed over to Operations in a safe, reliable, and fully operational state. This role acts as the key link between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Project teams, ensuring operational requirements are incorporated throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Project teams.
- Ensure operational and maintenance requirements are integrated from project concept through startup and handover.
- Participate in design reviews to verify equipment and systems are safe, operable, maintainable, and aligned with field requirements.
- Lead operability reviews and identify startup, maintenance, and operational risks.
- Participate in HAZOPs, JHAs, PSSRs, and other risk assessments, ensuring operational risks are identified and mitigated.
- Review project execution plans, construction strategies, turnover plans, and work packs to support safe and efficient startup.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for critical equipment and coordinate field operations involvement when required.
- Verify equipment functionality, maintainability, and compliance before shipment and installation.
- Ensure maintenance strategies, preventive maintenance programs, SAP asset hierarchies, and spare parts requirements are established prior to startup.
- Support development and review of operating procedures, startup documentation, training programs, and competency requirements.
- Provide operational input into commissioning plans, startup procedures, and system acceptance activities.
- Track readiness milestones and ensure all operational acceptance criteria are achieved before handover.
- Support cost optimization initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve reliability, maintainability, and long-term asset performance.
Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of Oil & Gas industry experience.
- Strong offshore operations and/or maintenance background, preferably in deepwater environments.
- Experience supporting capital projects, commissioning, startup, or operational readiness activities preferred.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, equipment datasheets, and 3D models.
- Strong knowledge of offshore production, utility, and safety systems.
- Familiarity with MOC, HAZOP, PSSR, and risk management processes.
- Experience with SAP or other CMMS platforms.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, critical spares management, and asset integrity practices.
- Understanding of commissioning, startup, system completion, and punch list management.
- Basic knowledge of project scheduling, cost management, reliability principles, and root cause analysis.
Certifications
- T-HUET required.
- T-2 Certificate preferred.
