Job Summary:
The Petrophysicist SME is a senior specialist within the Reservoir Development team and one of the critical experienced hires supporting the Reservoir Development build. The role is responsible for hands-on petrophysical interpretation across both fields, including perforation interval selection for the workover program, behind-pipe pay screening of the shut-in well stock, and saturation evaluation for bypassed pay.
This is an individual contributor position reporting to the VP Reservoir Development. The role works closely with the Reservoir Engineering Director on volumetrics and saturation models, Production Engineering on candidate selection, and manages the logging contractor interface.

Key Responsibilities:
- Own petrophysical interpretation across both fields, including perforation picks, behind-pipe pay screening across the shut-in stock, and saturation evaluation for bypassed pay.
- Re-interpret the legacy Soviet-era log base (BKZ and lateral log suites), recalibrated against modern logs and core data where available, with uncertainty clearly documented.
- Establish evaluation standards required by the fields, including shaly-sand and thin-bed methods for the Productive Series, low-resistivity pay evaluation, and core-to-log integration.
- Design logging and data acquisition programs across both fields, including; Cased-hole logging, production logging on existing well stock, saturation monitoring for bypassed pay, and full open-hole logging suites on all new wells delivered through the drilling campaign
- Manage logging contractors, including scope definition, tender support, and QA/QC of acquisition and processing activities.
- Assess new surveillance technologies, including production logging and distributed sensing, and implement solutions that deliver value.
- Develop and enhance interpretation capability within the local team through day-to-day collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in petrophysics.
- Strong depth in cased-hole and production petrophysics as the core discipline.
- Hands-on experience performing quantitative open-hole evaluation in clastic reservoirs.
- Demonstrated experience carrying out interpretations personally rather than solely reviewing the work of others.
- Experience with legacy or FSU log data is strongly preferred.
- Productive Series experience is considered ideal.
- Proven track record of managing logging vendors and logging acquisition programs.
- Azerbaijani or Russian language skills are advantageous
Success Measures:
- Perforation and reactivation candidates supported by delivered interpretations in line with the workover program schedule.
- A usable legacy log database with consistent reinterpretation and documented uncertainty.
- A logging program operating effectively with data quality assured before payment.
- Local engineers interpreting data according to the standards established by the SME.
