Position Overview
This Piping Material Engineer opportunity is suited to a technically strong professional with significant experience in piping material definition on major engineering contracts. The role offers the chance to support complex project delivery while working closely with project management, engineering disciplines, suppliers and external stakeholders. This Piping Material Engineer position will have a visible impact on material definition, specification development and technical coordination across project phases. The Piping Material Engineer will also act as a key discipline contact within a multicultural engineering environment.
Role Context
This role sits within the oil and gas engineering sector and supports major contracts involving piping material definition and bulk material management. The position reports to the Piping Material Lead while also working in parallel with the Project Management Team. The working environment includes close collaboration with Process, Civil Engineering, Piping Design, Instrumentation and Inspection teams, as well as clients, partners, suppliers and construction companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Define piping materials in line with contractual requirements while considering schedule and cost constraints.
- Prepare piping classes summary in collaboration with the Process Department.
- Produce piping material job specifications for design and supply, including valve datasheets.
- Issue specifications and material requisitions for inquiry and order.
- Carry out technical bid analysis, respond to vendor clarifications and support technical recommendations to procurement.
- Review vendor documentation to support successful project execution.
- Support material take-off activities, including coordination, reporting and quantities management.
- Act as a deputy to the Piping Material Lead and serve as a discipline point of contact for the project and client interface.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Approximately 10 years of experience in piping material definition.
- Essential: Strong knowledge of engineering processes across different contract types.
- Essential: Solid understanding of bulk material management processes.
- Essential: Fluent English communication skills.
- Essential: Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate across multiple technical disciplines.
- Essential: Strong analytical, communication, decision-making and negotiation skills.
- Desirable: Experience gained within the oil and gas sector.
- Desirable: Availability to complete short assignments in France and abroad.
