Power Plant Operator (Outside)
Duration: Until June 2027 with possibility of extension
Schedule: 7/7 rotation, 12 hours per day
Location: Gregory, Texas
This opportunity is suited to a technically capable operations professional with strong plant operations expertise in power generation or industrial processing. The role focuses on advanced outside operator duties, including system transitions, complex startups and shutdowns, operational troubleshooting, and response during abnormal plant conditions. This position offers the chance to contribute directly to reliability, compliance, safety, and overall plant performance.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
- Operating experience in power generation, industrial processing, or a closely related environment
- Experience performing advanced operating activities, including system transitions, complex startups and shutdowns, and high-risk operational adjustments
- Experience with boilers, cooling towers, turbines - plant equipment
- Ability to diagnose abnormal plant conditions and determine appropriate corrective actions independently
Required Skills:
- Must live within 60-mile radius from Gregory, Texas or willing to relocate without allowance / assistance / per diem
- Advanced knowledge of complex plant systems, including steam production, cooling systems, condensers, turbines, boilers, chemical processes, and auxiliary equipment
- Strong operational troubleshooting capability, including interpretation of plant data, chemistry logs, and system interactions
- Sound understanding of environmental compliance, plant safety standards, and operating procedures
- Ability to support operational response during abnormal conditions and contribute to system performance optimisation
- Effective coordination with maintenance, engineering, vendors, and leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical coursework, vocational training, or an associate degree in process technology, industrial operations, instrumentation, or a related field
- A combination of equivalent training and extensive technical experience
