Position Overview

This Process Engineer opportunity is focused on a major energy infrastructure project supporting the development of a new transportation network for hydrogen and CO?. The Process Engineer will contribute across concept selection, basic design, FEED, construction, and commissioning, making this Process Engineer role well suited to candidates who want broad technical exposure and visible project impact. This position offers the chance to work within a multidisciplinary engineering environment on a project that supports industrial decarbonisation in the Netherlands and Germany. Role Context

This role sits within the energy infrastructure sector and supports a cross-border pipeline development project connecting major industrial clusters. The scope includes underground hydrogen and CO? pipelines, together with related stations and connections to national and international infrastructure. The role forms part of a core engineering team working through multiple project phases in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide process engineering input into venting concepts, depressurisation concepts, safeguarding strategies, and operational concepts.
  • Prepare, update, and review process descriptions, Design Basis Documents, operational philosophies, and process narratives.
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mass balances, and hydraulic concepts.
  • Perform technical studies and evaluate design alternatives to support engineering decision-making.
  • Develop operational scenarios covering normal operation, start-up, shutdown, maintenance, depressurisation, pigging operations, and commissioning.
  • Support studies related to dense-phase CO? transport, hydrogen transportation, phase behaviour, and pressure and temperature profiles.
  • Incorporate outcomes from HAZID, HAZOP, and other safety studies into engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate with process control, pipeline engineering, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, and operations teams.
  • Review contractor deliverables and provide technical input across engineering phases.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Essential: 2 to 8 years of relevant experience in energy infrastructure, the process industry, hydrogen projects, or carbon capture and storage.
  • Essential: Experience with process design and process engineering documentation.
  • Essential: Experience using simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS or equivalent tools.
  • Essential: Fluent 3Dutch langueage
