The Project

You will join the Project Management Team supporting a large-scale water handling and injection development project within the Oil & Gas sector.

The project aims to develop and expand water treatment, handling, and injection facilities by integrating multiple water supply sources and enhancing existing infrastructure. The facilities will process significant water volumes to support long-term field production objectives while ensuring operational reliability and future capacity requirements.

This assignment offers the opportunity to work within a complex EPC environment involving international engineering contractors, vendors, licensors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the detailed design phase.


The Role

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing process engineering activities throughout the detailed design phase, ensuring the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of engineering deliverables.

You will provide technical leadership across process design, simulation, safety studies, and multidisciplinary coordination while supporting contractor activities and ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and engineering best practices.


Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering & Technical Support

  • Monitor and coordinate contractor process engineering activities.
  • Resolve critical engineering issues affecting project progress and design delivery.
  • Review and assess process engineering deliverables produced by contractors and vendors.
  • Provide technical expertise and support across all process engineering activities.
  • Ensure engineering solutions comply with project requirements, standards, and specifications.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams on process-related technical matters.

Design Review & Engineering Assurance

  • Review and validate key engineering documents, including:
    • Process Design Basis
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Heat & Material Balances (H&MB)
    • Material Selection Documentation
  • Participate in design reviews at key project milestones (30%, 60%, and 90%).
  • Support equipment design, sizing, specification, and selection activities.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality standards and project objectives.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and interdisciplinary design reviews.

Process Safety & Risk Management

  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and other process safety studies.
  • Support safety assessments and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Ensure process safety principles are incorporated into design activities.
  • Identify and address process-related safety concerns during project execution.

Stakeholder & Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with engineering contractors, licensors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication between engineering disciplines.
  • Support project execution through proactive technical problem-solving.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project cost efficiency and schedule performance.
  • Contribute to successful delivery of project objectives within planned timelines.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Master's Degree is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in Process Engineering within large-scale Oil & Gas, Energy, or EPC projects.
  • Previous experience on major brownfield and greenfield developments.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and project environments.
  • Proven track record in detailed engineering and EPC project phases.
  • Experience managing engineering contractor interfaces is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with process simulation software, including:
    • Aspen HYSYS
    • PRO II
    • Flare System Analysis Tools
  • Experience in both steady-state and dynamic process simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Heat & Material Balances (H&MB)
    • Heat Integration Studies
    • PFDs and P&IDs
    • Hydraulic Calculations
    • Process Equipment Design
    • Instrument and Control Philosophy
    • Material Selection
  • Experience participating in Process Safety Reviews and Risk Assessments.
  • Knowledge of the following would be considered an advantage:
    • HTRI / HTFS
    • Column Tray & Packing Design
    • Corrosion Engineering
    • Materials Selection
    • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Familiarity with international Oil & Gas engineering standards and procedures.
