Role Context
This role sits within the oil and gas sector and focuses on topside design and operations for floating offshore facilities. The position supports engineering work across FEED and detailed design phases, with involvement in both new facility development and operational support activities. The working environment is technically complex and centred on engineering leadership, design assurance and cross-discipline coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage and develop the process engineering aspects of topside design and operations.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including philosophies, studies, reports, calculations and drawings.
- Observe and interpret topside scheme and process system design requirements to support safe, cost-effective and fit-for-purpose floating facility design.
- Define and manage study scope, interfaces and boundaries for engineering activities.
- Manage schedules for the execution of engineering deliverables.
- Oversee the quality of third-party engineering deliverables.
- Resolve technical misalignments and engineering disagreements related to topside process and utilities scope.
- Provide technical guidance and engineering advice across process and utilities matters.
- Support topside equipment sizing, line sizing and system development activities.
- Contribute to operational troubleshooting, including start-up support, and participate in safety studies while monitoring implementation of recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, from a recognised institution.
- Essential: Minimum 15 years of experience in Process Engineering within the oil and gas industry.
- Essential: Minimum 10 years of experience in topside system and utility design for floating facilities.
- Essential: Strong knowledge of industrial codes and standards including API, ISO and NORSOK.
- Essential: Demonstrated capability in engineering management, work scope management, schedule management and communication management.
- Essential: Experience using engineering tools and software such as HYSYS and MySep.
- Essential: Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia as a Graduate Engineer or registered with another recognised professional body.
- Desirable: Experience supporting both greenfield and brownfield developments.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Petrobras GTD and specification.
- Desirable: Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate or registration with a recognised professional body such as IChemE.
