Position Overview
This opportunity is suited to a technically strong project controls professional with proven expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management. This position will support complex projects or multiple smaller projects, with responsibility for maintaining robust financial control and helping to resolve budget-related challenges. The role requires the ability to work independently on established project financial controls processes while contributing clear reporting and analysis to programme or portfolio-level stakeholders. This position offers the chance to play a key role in delivering strong financial oversight within a highly technical project environment.
Role Context

The role is aligned to complex project environments and may support projects classified as higher-complexity assignments or multiple concurrent smaller projects, requiring disciplined financial control, structured reporting, and effective stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Perform complex aspects of project cost control, financial forecasting, change documentation, and project estimating.
Provide financial reporting and support at programme or portfolio level with minimal supervision.
Track project costs, analyse variances, reconcile budgets, and help resolve financial and budget-related project challenges.
Identify issues affecting project financial performance and develop practical solutions.
Apply project financial controls principles and procedures across complex or multi-project assignments.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in business, finance, project management, engineering, technical discipline, or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years of project controls experience with a strong focus on financial analysis, budgeting, and cost management, or 9 years of project financial controls experience in lieu of a degree.
Strong knowledge of cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, and budget reconciliation.
Proficiency in project management and project controls concepts, financial computer applications, and analytics.
Strong analytical capability and the ability to communicate financial insights effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field and professional certification such as PMP, CAPM, AACE-CCC, AACE-CEP, or AACE-EVP.
Preferred: Experience with financial and cost control tools, including SAP, PeopleSoft, Business Objects, Power Plant, and risk management or Monte Carlo analysis for financial forecasting.
