Position Overview
The Project Director, FEP is a senior leadership opportunity focused on the successful delivery of a major capital investment programme within the energy and infrastructure sector. This position offers broad responsibility across project strategy, governance, delivery performance, stakeholder engagement, and operational readiness. The Project Director, FEP will play a pivotal role in leading a high-profile programme with significant strategic importance to the company. This opportunity will suit a technically strong and commercially aware leader with experience delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure projects.
Role Context
This role sits within a major energy infrastructure programme valued at over $1 billion. The Project Director, FEP will lead multidisciplinary teams spanning project management, engineering, construction, procurement, finance, legal, regulatory, and operations. The position is hybrid within the operating territory of DE, PA, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, and TX, with extensive travel of up to 50% to Florida required for those not based there.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall vision, execution strategy, governance framework, and delivery model for the Project Director, FEP programme.
Hold accountability for safety, scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and commercial performance across the full project lifecycle.
Direct integrated multidisciplinary teams across development, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership on investment decisions, risk mitigation, regulatory strategy, and business outcomes.
Oversee project controls, financial forecasting, contingency management, executive reporting, and programme-level performance.
Lead engagement with regulators, government bodies, customers, community stakeholders, and other strategic external parties.
Drive recovery planning and executive decision-making where programme performance moves away from approved baselines.
Support the successful handover of completed assets into operations while promoting continuous improvement in project governance and delivery practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
Essential:
15+ years of progressively responsible experience leading large capital projects, programmes, or portfolios.
Essential:
Proven success managing complex capital projects with significant budget, schedule, regulatory, and stakeholder requirements.
Essential:
Proven experience in a senior leadership role delivering large-scale pipeline and midstream projects on the owner/operator side.
Essential:
Advanced knowledge of project development, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
Essential:
Strong expertise in project governance, project controls, forecasting, risk management, contract administration, and capital investment practices.
Essential:
Demonstrated ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams and external partners within a complex matrix environment.
Essential:
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with executive leadership, boards, regulators, government agencies, customers, and community stakeholders.
Essential:
Valid State Driver’s license.
Desirable:
Master’s degree in a related field.
Desirable:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Desirable:
Experience leading projects exceeding $1 billion in authorised value.
Desirable:
Experience presenting to Boards of Directors, executive committees, regulators, and government agencies.
