Position Overview
The successful candidate must have served as the primary project leader with direct accountability for the day-to-day execution and delivery of large-scale linear energy infrastructure projects. This is not a capital portfolio, programme oversight, or executive sponsorship role. The client is seeking a hands-on project delivery leader who has personally led projects through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup, while actively managing field execution teams, contractors, schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder interfaces.

This role sits within a major energy infrastructure project valued at over $1 billion.
The Project Director, FEP will lead
the execution strategy, delivery approach, and overall performance of the FEP project from engineering through commissioning and handover.
The position is hybrid within the operating territory of DE, PA, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, and TX, with extensive travel of up to 50% to Florida required for those not based there.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall execution strategy, delivery approach, and performance of the FEP project from engineering through construction, commissioning, startup, and operational handover.
Hold accountability for safety, scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and commercial performance across the full project lifecycle.
Direct integrated multidisciplinary teams across development, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership on investment decisions, risk mitigation, regulatory strategy, and business outcomes.
Oversee project controls, financial forecasting, contingency management, executive reporting, and overall project performance.
Lead engagement with regulators, government bodies, customers, community stakeholders, and other strategic external parties.
Drive recovery planning and corrective actions when project performance deviates from approved safety, cost, schedule, quality, or execution baselines.
Support the successful handover of completed assets into operations while promoting continuous improvement in project governance and delivery practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
Essential:
Recent experience (within the last 5-10 years) serving as the accountable Project Director or Project Manager responsible for active project execution, construction delivery, and commissioning activities on a major linear infrastructure project.
Essential:
Proven owner-side experience leading execution and delivering pipeline, transmission, midstream, or other linear infrastructure projects through construction, commissioning, startup, and operational handover as the accountable project leader.
Essential:
Experience must include direct leadership of a single large-scale linear infrastructure project through execution. Candidates whose background is primarily focused on portfolio management, PMO leadership, capital planning, investment governance, or oversight of multiple concurrent projects will not be considered.
Essential:
Significant onsite project leadership experience, including regular presence at construction sites and direct management of EPC contractors, construction teams, project controls, commissioning teams, and field execution activities.

Proven success managing complex capital projects with significant budget, schedule, regulatory, and stakeholder requirements.
Essential:
Ability to demonstrate ownership of project outcomes, including accountability for safety, schedule, cost, scope, quality, contractor performance, and commissioning readiness.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with executive leadership, boards, regulators, government agencies, customers, and community stakeholders.

Valid State Driver’s license.
Desirable:
Master’s degree in a related field.
Desirable:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Desirable:
Experience leading projects exceeding $1 billion in authorised value.
Desirable:
Experience presenting to Boards of Directors, executive committees, regulators, and government agencies.
Desirable:
Experience within LNG, pipeline, transmission, utility, energy, transportation, or major infrastructure projects.
