Project Engineer opportunity supporting strategic risk-informed applications across a nuclear fleet environment, with a focus on technical analysis, engineering judgement, and cross-functional collaboration. This position is suited to an experienced engineering professional who can work independently and produce high-quality technical outputs.

Role Context

This role sits within a Probabilistic Risk Assessment environment supporting risk-informed decision-making tools and processes for a nuclear fleet. The Project Engineer will contribute to work that supports safety, operational optimisation, and regulatory compliance across engineering and operations stakeholders.

About the Role

The Project Engineer will support the development and implementation of strategic risk-informed applications and initiatives. The role contributes to technical bases, supporting documentation, engineering studies, and coordinated stakeholder input for complex, multi-workstream activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of strategic risk-informed applications and initiatives across the nuclear fleet, including Risk-Informed Completion Times, Surveillance Frequency Control Program, and 10 CFR 50.69 categorizations.

  • Develop technical bases and supporting documentation for engineering and risk-informed activities.

  • Research and provide reference documentation to third parties.

  • Coordinate reviews with site resources.

  • Research and resolve system design and operations questions arising from 50.69 categorization and alternative treatment activities.

  • Provide engineering and technical expertise to identify, analyse, and resolve complex issues and communicate options and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Apply technical rigor and operating experience to produce risk-informed solutions that optimise safety, support regulatory compliance, and enhance operational decision-making.

  • Plan and execute assigned work with estimating, scheduling, status reporting, and multiple workstreams requiring independent problem solving.

  • Prepare and maintain technical reports, correspondence, calculations, analyses, and supporting documentation.

  • Perform engineering studies and analyses with coordination across stakeholders and documentation of decisions.

  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills for technical and leadership audiences.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent degree).

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience in the nuclear industry.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and adhere to schedules, meet deliverables and commitments, and provide status updates.

  • Experience with Boolean logic development and/or analysis with large fault trees.

  • Experience in the utility industry, at a site or station, preferably in Engineering or Operations.

  • Familiarity with fundamental BWR or PWR plant systems.

  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.

  • Demonstrated effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team, be a self-starter, exercise flexibility, and take personal responsibility for assigned deliverables.

  • Ability to adapt to changing processes, regulations, responsibilities, and work environments.

  • SRO certification, RO or SRO license, or Technical Nuclear certification
