The position requires a hands-on QA/QC professional with strong experience in welding inspection, procedure qualification, and NDT coordination, capable of working within a large-scale, multicultural construction environment and driving both quality excellence and HSE compliance.

Role Context

Working on a high-profile LNG development, the role interfaces daily with contractors and subcontractors across welding, fabrication, piping, mechanical, and construction teams. The successful candidate will act as the on-site welding QA/QC authority, contributing to:

  • Safe and compliant execution of welding activities

  • Witness and validate welder qualification tests, ensuring only approved personnel perform welding activities

  • Monitor implementation of qualified WPS and welding parameters on site

  • Coordinate and oversee Non-Destructive Testing (RT, UT, MT, PT) and validate results against acceptance criteria

  • Ensure full traceability of materials, consumables, and weld joints in compliance with codes and project requirements

  • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Technical Queries (TQs), including root cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Analyze defect trends and recommend mitigation strategies

  • Liaise with inspection, piping, mechanical, and construction teams to improve QA/QC performance

  • Prepare structured daily, weekly, and monthly reports (weld status, NDT results, repair rates, KPIs)

  • Verify appropriate inspection manpower levels within contractor and subcontractor teams

  • Promote HSE compliance, focusing on welding hazards (arc flash, fumes, fire risk) and safe practices

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in welding QA/QC, preferably within Oil & Gas or LNG megaprojects

  • At least 5 years in welding inspection roles on major construction projects

  • Proven experience working on large onshore EPC or LNG construction sites

  • Strong knowledge of international welding codes: ASME IX | AWS D1.1 | ISO 9606 | API 1104

  • Solid experience with:

    • WPS, PQR, WQR approvals and implementation

    • Welder qualification and performance assessment

    • NDT coordination and interpretation

    • Material and consumable traceability systems

    • NCR management and defect analysis

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI - AWS), CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2, or equivalent (preferred/expected)

  • Additional QA/QC or inspection certifications are advantageous

  • Languages: Fluent English (mandatory); Portuguese or French is a plus
