QHSE Manager

Airswift is looking for a QHSE Manager to work 12-month (with a strong possibility of renewal) for a major global company specializing in the manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of subsea fiber-optic cables in Rio de Janeiro.

 The QHSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental systems across oil and gas operations in Brazil. The role ensures full compliance with Brazilian regulations and international standards, while promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.

This position is critical in high-risk environments such as offshore platforms, FPSOs, and marine operations often associated with companies like Petrobras and IOC’s.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement QHSE policies, procedures, and management systems

Align QHSE strategy with company and project objectives

Promote a proactive safety culture (“zero harm” mindset)

Lead continuous improvement initiatives

1. 1. compliance with Brazilian regulatory standards, including:

1. 1. (Electrical Safety)
   2. (Pressure Vessels & Boilers)
   3. (Confined Spaces)
   4. (Offshore Safety)

1. 1. risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, JSA)

1. 1. incident investigations and root cause analysis
   2. corrective and preventive actions

1. 1. compliance with environmental regulations from IBAMA
   2. environmental impact assessments and licensing requirements

1. 1. emissions, waste management, and pollution control

1. 1. sustainability and environmental protection initiatives

1. 1. and maintain quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)

1. 1. compliance with project specifications and client requirements
   2. internal and external audits
   3. non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions

1. 1. and deliver QHSE training programs

1. 1. workforce competency and certification compliance
   2. awareness campaigns and safety drills
   3. and report QHSE KPIs (TRIR, LTIF, environmental metrics)
   4. reports for management and clients

1. 1. trends and implement improvement plans

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field

Postgraduate qualification in QHSE or Safety Management (preferred)

Experience in QHSE roles (preferably in the oil and gas sector)

Solid knowledge of Brazilian legislation and offshore standards

Advanced English – Required
