Position Overview

This opportunity is suited to a technically strong reservoir engineering professional with advanced experience in simulation, depletion planning, and reservoir evaluation within the oil and gas sector. The role focuses on providing high-level technical guidance, supporting reservoir management objectives, and delivering robust engineering assessments to inform project and asset decisions. This position will also contribute to cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership, and the mentoring of less experienced engineers. The role offers the chance to work in a demanding environment where technical quality, clear communication, and sound engineering judgement are essential.

Role Context

This position is based within the oil and gas industry and supports work connected to a refinery and chemical complex environment. The role operates within an integrated project setting, working closely with reservoir leadership and other technical groups to support field development, depletion strategy, risk management, and project delivery. Candidates should be comfortable working in a technically complex environment with changing priorities and occasional travel or time away from home as required by project needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to reservoir leadership teams to support performance objectives and maintain high engineering standards.

  • Develop and support reservoir engineering plans and programmes aligned with project and reservoir management requirements.

  • Perform and guide detailed reservoir simulation studies to evaluate depletion schemes and investigate technical issues.

  • Undertake associated studies including PVT, inflow/outflow, relative permeability, SCAL, and related technical evaluations required for simulation work.

  • Support depletion plan assessments for asset evaluation activities and broader reservoir management decisions.

  • Contribute to risk assessments, uncertainty analysis studies, and value of information assessments for data acquisition planning.

  • Participate in or lead peer reviews to help ensure technical consistency and quality.

  • Provide technical input to drilling, facilities, and other project functions as required.

  • Prepare clear written and graphical documentation of technical findings and deliver focused updates to stakeholders.

  • Mentor less experienced engineers and support technical presentations, team discussions, and regulatory compliance activities where required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience in reservoir engineering roles within the oil and gas industry.

  • Strong knowledge of reservoir engineering fundamentals and reservoir management practices.

  • Proven experience building, running, and evaluating dynamic reservoir models.

  • Ability to conduct reservoir simulation studies efficiently and independently to address technical challenges.

  • Capability to identify issues, develop solutions, and carry out reservoir evaluations with limited supervision.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across multiple levels of an organisation.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage changing priorities, and contribute effectively within an integrated project team environment.

  • Proficiency with standard computer applications including Microsoft Office.

  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
