Job Title: Safety & Environment Lead
Location: Chengdu, China
This opportunity is suited to a senior engineering professional with deep expertise in Safety Engineering within complex oil and gas projects. The role focuses on delivering a robust engineering dossier, supporting detailed design, fabrication, installation, commissioning and start-up activities, while ensuring technical integrity, ALARP risk reduction, and compliance with project standards and applicable regulations. This position offers broad exposure across multidisciplinary engineering coordination, contractor interface, technical reviews, and site support in an onshore field environment.
Required Education:
- Engineer or Master of Science
Required Experience:
- Extensive experience in oil and gas projects
- Significant experience in a similar or equivalent position with managerial responsibilities
- Onshore field experience
- Background supporting engineering, fabrication, installation, hook-up, commissioning, and start-up phases
Required Skills:
- Strong Safety Engineering expertise across technical safety design, risk reduction, and fit-for-purpose design delivery
- Experience reviewing and validating safety and environmental studies including fire and explosion risk analysis, formal safety assessment, safety critical elements, escape, evacuation and rescue analysis, gas dispersion, radiation, and explosion overpressure studies
- Ability to review and comment on safety concepts and philosophies, hazardous area classifications and layouts, process P&IDs, ESD logic diagrams, fire and gas cause-and-effect diagrams, and blast and layout studies
- Capability to support HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, constructability reviews, project reviews, and model reviews
- Strong multidisciplinary coordination across engineering disciplines to support design integration, constructability, operability, and maintainability
- Experience handling technical bid evaluations, vendor document review, technical queries, non-conformance reviews, technical modifications, red-line drawings, and as-built documentation
- Ability to contribute to engineering progress reporting, technical risk assessment, lessons learned integration, and change management support
- English language skills
