Location & Roster
- Client: Tier 1 mining EPCM
- FIFO roster: 15 days on / 13 days off
- Initial 12-month contract with strong potential for extension
- Site: Pilbara, WA
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Western Australian health and safety legislation, statutory obligations, project HSE plans, and relevant industry standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project health and safety management systems, procedures, safe work practices, and contractor mobilisation processes.
- Provide strong and visible HSE leadership across the project, supporting the successful implementation of safety management frameworks, risk management programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and coach project personnel, contractors, supervisors, and leadership teams to foster a proactive and positive safety culture.
- Manage hazard identification, risk assessments, critical risk management activities, workplace inspections, audits, and contractor compliance with established safety requirements.
- Oversee incident, hazard, and near-miss reporting, investigations, corrective action management, injury management, and project HSE reporting requirements.
- Coordinate emergency response planning, emergency preparedness activities, site security services, and emergency response training programs.
- Facilitate HSE forums, committee meetings, leadership engagements, safety campaigns, workforce communications, and fatality prevention initiatives.
- Monitor and analyse leading and lagging HSE performance indicators, identify trends, and implement improvement actions to enhance project safety performance.
- Support and deliver HSE training programs, including supervisor training, critical risk management training, and workforce awareness initiatives.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to project management teams, engineering contractors, and construction partners on health and safety matters, risk mitigation, compliance, and performance improvement.
- Assist with the resolution of HSE issues and support the achievement of project and client performance objectives.
Candidate Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Health and Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in a Health & Safety Manager role within mining, resources, heavy industry, infrastructure, construction, or major project environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated experience leading HSE programs in FIFO and large-scale construction or operational environments.
- Proven ability to drive safety performance improvements and embed a positive safety culture across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all organisational levels.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and achieving project health and safety objectives.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working on major mining, resources, construction, or infrastructure projects.
- Previous exposure to EPCM, EPC, owner’s team, or principal contractor project environments.
- Experience with contractor management, critical risk management programs, incident investigations, audits, and emergency response planning.
- Familiarity with digital HSE reporting and management systems.
