We are seeking an experienced Site Health, Safety, Security & Environmental (HSSE) Supervisor to support the construction and commissioning of a utility-scale solar energy project near La Pryor, Texas.
This individual will serve as the Owner's on-site representative, providing independent oversight of the EPC contractor's safety and environmental programs while ensuring adherence to project HSSE requirements, industry best practices, and regulatory standards.
This is a full-time, site-based assignment with a projected duration of 15-18 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and oversee site health, safety, security, and environmental performance throughout project execution.
- Participate in project safety planning and work coordination meetings.
- Perform routine site inspections, field observations, and safety audits.
- Identify hazards and verify that appropriate risk mitigation measures are implemented.
Support and participate in:
- Safe Work Observations (SWOs)
- Workplace inspections
- HSSE assessments
- Compliance audits and verifications
- Collaborate with contractor leadership to address and resolve HSSE deficiencies.
- Provide coaching and guidance on safety expectations and best practices.
- Verify proper reporting and investigation of incidents, near misses, environmental events, and security-related issues.
- Ensure timely communication of significant HSSE matters to project leadership.
Monitor compliance with:
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) requirements
- Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) requirements
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in an
HSSE leadership role
on construction projects.
Strong working knowledge of:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Electrical safety programs
- Lifting and rigging operations
- Piling operations
Experience conducting:
- Safety audits
- Site inspections
- HSSE assessments
- Field observations
Working knowledge of:
- SWPPP requirements
- SPCC requirements
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an
Owner's Representative
.
Recent experience supporting:
- Utility-scale Solar PV projects
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
