SAFETY OFFICER
Qualification:
• HNC/B.Sc. or equivalent in engineering discipline. Safety course (NEBOSH or equivalent or higher (Safety Diploma) and preferable associate member of recognized safety institution.
• Offshore training TBOSIET & H2S (OPITO approved), PTW, JSA and incident investigation, ISO 45001 and lead auditor training is desirable.
Experience:
• Minimum 12 years’ experience in project or operational safety (onshore/offshore), or at offshore oil & gas, petrochemical projects, specifically experience in offshore/onshore fabrication yards, working at offshore platforms, barges and experience working at offshore construction and installation projects. Thorough knowledge on various safety, health and environmental regulations, standards, procedures and environmental compliances during offshore construction/installation and in?depth knowledge and experience in HSE management system of the company, contractors/sub?contractors.
• Experience in the Arabian Gulf is desirable.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitor onshore/offshore site activities and perform daily/weekly HSE inspections to ensure compliance with JSA/JHA, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and PTW systems.
• Identify hazards and implement risk?reduction measures throughout all project phases.
• Review method statements, JSAs, and third?party safety certifications (lifting, working at height, etc.) and report any deficiencies.
• Provide technical HSE support during EPIC stages to ensure contractor compliance with HSE plans, risk registers, policies, and regulations.
• Ensure adherence to HSE requirements covering fire safety, protection systems, life safety, emergency response, and communication systems.
• Support implementation of HSE performance monitoring, objectives, procedures, and standards.
• Monitor compliance with applicable HSE legal requirements, national regulations, and international conventions.
• Maintain and update the Project HSE Risk Register, ensuring proper tracking and close?out of risks.
• Review contractor HSE documents and evaluate Safety Officer qualifications before mobilization.
• Conduct incident investigations and ensure timely close?out of corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct site safety meetings and HSE awareness sessions.
• Perform safety audits, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure effective implementation
