- Client: Tier-1 mining EPCM
- FIFO roster: 15 days on / 13 days off
- Initial 12-month contract with strong potential for extension
- Site: Pilbara, WA
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert Health & Safety guidance and support to project and construction teams.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through positive engagement, practical safety solutions, and the application of industry best practices.
- Deliver visible safety leadership and mentorship to project personnel, contractor management teams, and frontline supervisors.
- Collaborate with contractors and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with project Health & Safety Management Systems, legislative requirements, and company standards.
- Support the management and completion of incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented, monitored, and verified for effectiveness.
- Champion workplace health and safety initiatives, behavioural safety programs, and workforce recognition activities that promote positive safety outcomes.
- Lead and support the implementation of Critical Risk Management (CRM) programs and other project safety initiatives.
- Facilitate and contribute to risk assessments, critical risk workshops, and hazard identification activities.
- Assist project teams in the implementation, monitoring, ongoing review, and continuous improvement of Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on HSE compliance requirements, risk management processes, legislative obligations, and company safety procedures.
- Reinforce a strong commitment to preventing workplace injuries, occupational illnesses, environmental incidents, and property damage.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and compliance reviews, maintaining accurate and up-to-date HSE records.
- Analyse HSE performance data, contractor safety trends, and leading and lagging indicators, preparing reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Lead by example through active participation in safety activities, field interactions, coaching, and continual improvement initiatives.
- Coach, mentor, influence, and support personnel at all levels to achieve project safety objectives and foster a high-performance safety culture.
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Work Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Current Construction Industry White Card (or equivalent).
- Advanced First Aid certification.
- Minimum 8 years of experience within the mining, resources, heavy industry, or construction sectors.
- Demonstrated experience supporting major construction projects and/or operational mining environments.
- Experience managing and engaging with contractors and subcontractors in high-risk work environments.
- Strong field leadership capability with a proven ability to influence positive safety behaviours across all workforce levels.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make practical and timely decisions in dynamic and high-pressure environments.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
- Effective stakeholder management, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience handling conflict resolution and facilitating positive outcomes among project stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation capabilities.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, risk management principles, incident investigation processes, permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures, and commissioning activities.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working on large-scale mining, resources, infrastructure, or construction projects.
- Previous exposure to major project owner, EPCM, or principal contractor environments.
- Lead Auditor qualification.
- ICAM Lead Investigator qualification.
- Leadership, management, or supervisory qualifications.
- Experience with critical risk management programs, contractor management frameworks, safety management systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with digital HSE reporting and management systems.
