Job Title: Sales Manager – Gas Compressor / Gas Turbine / Rotating Equipment
Location: Selangor, Malaysia
This opportunity is with a Malaysia-based electrical, instrumentation and automation company supporting Oil & Gas and industrial clients across control and safety systems, E&I installation, system integration, maintenance, commissioning and engineering services. The role is focused on developing and growing business across gas compressors, gas turbines and associated rotating equipment within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and LNG sectors. This position offers strong market-facing scope, combining technical sales, business development, tender leadership and engagement with end users, EPC/EPCC contractors and engineering consultants.
Required Experience:
- Experience in sales, business development, key account management or commercial roles involving rotating equipment
- Strong background in gas compressors, centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, gas turbines, steam turbines, compressor packages or turbomachinery
- Experience across both new project or CAPEX opportunities and aftermarket or lifecycle business, including upgrades, revamps, maintenance, service, spare parts and long-term service agreements
- Knowledge of the Malaysian Oil & Gas market, including offshore production facilities, onshore processing facilities, LNG facilities, gas processing plants, refineries, petrochemical plants, compressor stations, power generation or cogeneration facilities, and FPSO, FSO or FLNG facilities
- Experience engaging with end users, EPC/EPCC contractors and engineering consultants
- Understanding of project development stages from concept and FEED through market survey, budgetary proposal, tender, technical clarification, commercial negotiation, award, execution and aftermarket support
- Experience working for an OEM, authorized representative, rotating-equipment service company, system integrator or established Oil & Gas equipment supplier would support success in the role
Required Skills:
- Ability to identify and develop new opportunities proactively rather than relying on incoming RFQs
- Technical credibility to engage with customer engineering teams on compressor types, operating principles, gas turbine applications, driver and compressor configurations, compressor performance and anti-surge requirements
- Commercial capability in RFQ review, bid or no-bid evaluation, costing, margin strategy, commercial risk assessment, contract negotiation and tender strategy
- Knowledge of compressor or turbine control systems, fuel control systems, governors, mechanical auxiliary systems, machinery protection, condition monitoring and equipment upgrade or retrofit discussions
- Strong relationship-building skills with engineering teams, maintenance managers, reliability engineers, control engineers, technical authorities, project managers and procurement professionals
- Structured opportunity management, sales forecasting, account planning and CRM or sales funnel tracking
- Ability to coordinate effectively with international principals, OEMs and technology partners on opportunity qualification, market intelligence, pricing strategy, technical presentations and business reviews
- Strong negotiation, market mapping and key account development capability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Rotating Equipment or Machinery Engineering, Electrical or Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Chemical or Process Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline
- Established relationships within major operators, EPC or EPCC contractors and engineering consultants in Malaysia
- Experience with equipment or technologies from major rotating-equipment companies or associated control-system suppliers such as Baker Hughes, GE, Siemens Energy, Solar Turbines, MAN Energy Solutions, Elliott, Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Howden, Ariel, Burckhardt, Woodward, CCC or equivalent
- Examples of identifying opportunities before RFQ issue, influencing technical or commercial positioning, coordinating with an OEM or principal, and converting opportunities into orders through the full project cycle
- Strong commercial background combined with extensive rotating-equipment experience
