This opportunity focuses on inventory control, optimization, and materials management within a complex energy industry environment. The role serves as a key resource for inventory performance, material master data integrity, and SAP Materials Management (MM) processes, while partnering closely with Finance, Procurement, Maintenance, Operations, and Supply Chain stakeholders. The successful candidate will support inventory strategy development, demand planning, spare parts management, inventory modeling, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires a strong combination of hands-on Materials Management experience and deep SAP MM expertise, including the ability to troubleshoot system and process issues, maintain material master data, and drive inventory-related business improvements.
Required Education:
An undergraduate degree, ideally in procurement or business, or equivalent experience
Required Experience:
Extensive experience working with SAP ERP systems, specifically SAP Materials Management (MM) ·
Strong knowledge of Materials Management processes and how they function within ERP environments
Experience supporting inventory control, inventory optimization, and inventory performance analysis across regional or site-based operations
Experience maintaining, reviewing, and resolving Material Master data issues
Experience collaborating with line, finance, procurement, maintenance, and operations teams to evaluate inventory requirements and support total cost of ownership decisions
Experience with physical inventory counting, reconciliation, and audit processes aligned with finance requirements
Experience supporting demand planning, surplus inventory identification, and obsolete material disposition activities
Experience troubleshooting inventory, material master, and SAP MM process-related issues
Required Skills:
Advanced SAP MM knowledge with the ability to identify and resolve system and process issues
Strong knowledge of inventory strategy, inventory level setting, and continuous improvement within Materials Management
Ability to monitor, analyze, and communicate key performance indicators related to inventory performance
Strong focus on data quality and governance, including Material Master record integrity
Understanding of both the operational and system aspects of Materials Management
Ability to work effectively within a functional matrix organization and influence leadership and operational stakeholders
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to support spare parts linkage to critical assets and service level reviews at the item master level
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to make effective decisions based on economics and total cost of ownership principles
Understanding of equipment, spare parts, and materials used in the energy industry
Knowledge of statistical analysis, inventory modeling techniques, forecasting, or inventory accounting
Experience supporting MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) inventory program
Field experience working in or supporting inventory control, warehouse operations, or inbound logistics within the oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, LNG, or energy sectors
