A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Secondary Design Engineer to join its growing power and energy team in Sydney.
You'll contribute to complex substation, transmission and utility projects while collaborating with highly regarded specialists across electrical, power systems and renewable energy disciplines.

The Role
As a key member of the secondary engineering team, you'll be responsible for the design and delivery of protection, control and communication systems across a range of high-voltage projects.
You'll work closely with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions from concept design through to detailed delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver secondary design solutions for HV and EHV transmission and distribution projects.
- Develop protection and control philosophies, schematics and associated design documentation.
- Prepare technical reports, equipment specifications, cable schedules and design deliverables.
- Coordinate with primary, SCADA, power systems and civil design teams throughout project execution.
- Support feasibility studies, detailed design packages and design reviews.
- Contribute to renewable energy, substation and network augmentation projects.
- Assist with technical due diligence and owner's engineer assignments.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and key project stakeholders.
About You
We're interested in speaking with engineers who are passionate about power systems and infrastructure and who enjoy solving complex technical challenges.
You'll ideally bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience working on transmission, distribution or substation projects.
- Strong knowledge of secondary systems including protection, control, SCADA and AC/DC auxiliary systems.
- Exposure to HV or EHV infrastructure projects.
- Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation.
- Knowledge of IEC61850 and digital substation technologies is highly regarded.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Professional registration, or a pathway toward registration, will be viewed favourably.
