Job Title: Seismic Vessel Auditor

This opportunity is with a geoscience, interpretation, operations and marketing company seeking an experienced marine professional to carry out a focused audit of a seismic survey vessel during a scheduled dockside window in Spain. The role offers the chance to deliver an independent technical assessment covering vessel condition, operational readiness, safety management systems and regulatory compliance. It is well suited to candidates with strong vessel inspection, offshore operations and maritime assurance expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a full onboard inspection of the seismic survey vessel and associated equipment.
  • Review vessel certifications, statutory documentation and class records.
  • Assess compliance with applicable international maritime regulations.
  • Inspect vessel safety systems, emergency preparedness arrangements and operational procedures.
  • Evaluate bridge, deck, engine room and marine operational practices.
  • Review maintenance systems and planned maintenance records.
  • Verify HSE policies, procedures and implementation onboard.
  • Assess environmental compliance and pollution prevention measures.
  • Conduct interviews with key vessel personnel where required.
  • Identify non-conformances, observations and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare a detailed audit report with findings, recommendations and supporting evidence.
  • Present findings to relevant stakeholders on completion of the inspection.
  • Provide a compliance assessment summary, recommendations for corrective actions and operational improvements, and supporting photographic evidence where appropriate.

Required Education & Certifications:

  • Master Mariner, Chief Engineer, Marine Superintendent, Marine Surveyor or equivalent maritime qualification (Required).

Required Experience:

  • Previous experience conducting vessel audits, inspections, surveys or marine assurance activities.
  • Experience working with offshore, seismic, survey, geophysical or specialised marine vessels.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of international maritime legislation and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with Classification Society and Flag State requirements.
  • Proven ability to assess vessel operations, safety management systems and technical compliance.
  • Excellent report-writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and an objective auditing approach.
  • English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical and investigative capability.
  • Strong observational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a short inspection timeframe.
  • Strong focus on safety, compliance and risk management.

Preferred Education & Certifications:

  • Lead Auditor qualification in ISO, ISM or equivalent (Preferred).

Preferred Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous auditing experience on seismic or geophysical survey vessels.
  • Experience with offshore energy, marine survey or geophysical operations.
  • Knowledge of marine HSE management systems and assurance processes.
  • Spanish language skills would be advantageous.
