Senior Civil Engineer (infrastructural)

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a major project based in Perth, WA. This role will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, delivering civil engineering solutions for earthworks, roads, drainage, and site infrastructure while supporting project planning, design, and execution activities.

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering civil engineering design packages and technical studies to support major project development. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and stakeholders to provide practical, cost-effective, and compliant engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing civil engineering design packages covering earthworks, road design, drainage, and site infrastructure.
  • Preparing engineering documentation including Basis of Design reports, Technical Specifications, Scopes of Work, Design Reports, Design Summary Memoranda, and Material Take-Offs.
  • Providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle from concept development and feasibility studies through to detailed design and project execution.
  • Reviewing engineering models, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements, engineering standards, and internal design practices.
  • Managing external engineering consultants, including oversight of deliverables, schedules, budgets, and technical quality.
  • Generating and managing spatial datasets and engineering mapping to identify site constraints, including terrain, flooding, utilities, environmental considerations, and access requirements.
  • Evaluating civil infrastructure options and providing recommendations to optimise safety, constructability, cost, and schedule outcomes.
  • Supporting project risk assessments and managing civil engineering risks throughout project development.
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver project objectives.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience delivering civil engineering designs and engineering studies for major infrastructure, industrial, or large-scale development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of earthworks, roads, drainage, and site infrastructure.
  • Strong experience preparing engineering study documentation, including Basis of Design reports, Technical Specifications, and Design Reports.
  • Proven ability to manage engineering consultants, review technical deliverables, and provide technical guidance within a project environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering risk management throughout project development.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian engineering standards, regulations, legislation, and industry guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing project schedules and supporting regulatory approval processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior engineers.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience using 12d Model software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Experience with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or Global Mapper.
  • Experience managing and analysing LiDAR, aerial imagery, and digital terrain models (DTMs/DEMs).
  • Experience using AutoTURN or Vehicle Tracking software.
  • Exposure to hydrology and hydraulic modelling software.
