Airswift is seeking a Senior Design Engineer – Mechanical (HVAC) at an engineering and services company in Kingston - Jamaica specializing in building installations, with a focus on air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and ventilation systems.
Senior Design Engineer – Mechanical (HVAC) to take end-to-end engineering ownership of building services projects from estimation and design review through shop drawings, quality control, as-built documentation, and final handover.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering & Project Delivery
• Lead mechanical (HVAC) engineering delivery across the full project lifecycle
• Act as the technical authority for HVAC system design, coordination, and execution support
• Ensure designs are compliant, buildable, cost-efficient, and aligned with site realities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
• Support estimating during tender stages by reviewing drawings, specifications, and scope
• Provide technical input, system selections, and value engineering options
• Validate engineering assumptions used in pricing and proposals
Design Review & Shop Drawings
• Prepare and review HVAC layouts, calculations, and system selections
• Review consultant designs and identify constructability risks, gaps, and clashes
• Prepare and/or review mechanical shop drawings suitable for construction
Submittals & Procurement Support
• Prepare complete technical submittal packages for consultant/client approval prior to procurement
• Ensure submittals meet specifications and contract requirements
• Provide technical support to procurement teams post-approval
Bills of Materials (BOM)
• Prepare detailed shop-drawing-based Bills of Materials, including all materials required for execution
• Ensure quantities are accurate, coordinated, and procurement-ready
Quality Control & Site Support
• Provide engineering QC oversight during construction
• Review site feedback, inspection reports, and photos
• Resolve technical issues, non-conformances, and installation deviations
As-Built & Handover
• Review and validate as-built drawings and final engineering documentation
• Support smooth project close-out and handover from an engineering standpoint
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Experience in HVAC / Building Mechanical Systems
Proven experience in project delivery, from conception to final handover
