Employment type: Casual contract (12-month duration)

Work schedule: Monday to Friday

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a high-performing, values-driven team delivering major projects across a diverse portfolio of assets. This role reports to the Principal or Lead Electrical Engineer and offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale studies and projects from early concept through to execution. You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, including scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, and detailed delivery, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Position Description

  • Deliver concept and detailed design of electrical distribution systems for new and upgraded processing facilities, including substations and switchrooms
  • Develop design and documentation for cabling systems, lighting, earthing, and lightning protection
  • Integrate high-voltage and low-voltage systems, including protection schemes, into complete, functional designs
  • Prepare engineering deliverables such as electrical calculations, equipment sizing and selection, datasheets, load lists, equipment lists, tie-in schedules, bills of materials, and capital spares
  • Support instrumentation and control integration across project scopes
  • Review and guide design outputs including 3D models, layouts, plot plans, general arrangements, and construction drawings
  • Manage equipment and vendor packages, including preparation of specifications and requisitions, bid evaluations, technical clarifications, vendor data review, and participation in inspections and factory acceptance testing
  • Ensure all electrical deliverables are completed within budget and schedule constraints
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and coordinated project outcomes
  • Participate in safety in design activities, including hazard identification, hazard and operability studies, constructability reviews, and risk assessments
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable regulations, standards, and industry best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mining, resources, or heavy industrial environments
  • Proven experience in concept design, FEED, and detailed engineering phases
  • Experience in construction, commissioning, operations, or maintenance is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, including HV and LV infrastructure
  • Ability to develop and review complex engineering documentation and deliverables
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing changing project requirements and timelines
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
