Job Title: Senior Electrical Designer
Duration: 12 months
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
Location: Perth WA

This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to a major EPCM iron ore mining project based in Perth. The role sits within a dynamic project team focused on electrical design across High Voltage and LV systems up to 33kV, supporting technically complex project delivery in a collaborative engineering environment. This position will suit candidates who are confident working with vendor documentation, power system studies, cable sizing and technical design deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review electrical design documentation and drawings
  • Review vendor technical documentation and design deliverables
  • Support power system studies including load flow, short circuit and harmonic analysis
  • Prepare cable sizing calculations, cable schedules, MTOs and equipment lists
  • Ensure compliance with Australian and international standards and codes
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.

Required Education:

  • Australian accredited 4-year engineering degree

Required Experience:

  • 8-12 years of WA iron ore or similar industry experience
  • Experience working with High Voltage and LV systems up to 33kV
  • Experience reviewing vendor technical documents and drawings
  • Experience supporting studies and developing MTOs and lists

Required Skills:

  • Power system studies including load flow, short circuit and harmonics
  • Familiarity with Australian and international standards and codes
  • Cable sizing and schedule development
  • Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively with management, co-workers, clients and other stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in problem solving

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with software design tools such as Smart Plant, DIgSILENT Power Factory, ETAP, SKM Power Tools and CDEGS
