Job Title:
Senior Electrical Engineer
Duration: 9 months
Schedule: Site based, 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off
Location: Tanga, Tanzania
This opportunity offers involvement in a major crude oil pipeline and marine storage and export terminal environment, supporting electrical maintenance and inspection activities across critical operational assets. The role focuses on electrical power distribution, HV and MV systems, VFD-driven equipment, UPS, PLCs, switchgears, and site maintenance planning in a technically demanding oil and gas setting. This position will contribute to equipment reliability, safe operations, commissioning support, and continuous improvement across complex electrical infrastructure.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
Required Experience:
10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
At least 3 years of experience as a site electrical authority
Strong experience in electrical power generation, distribution, control, and management systems
Experience working with transformers, HV/LV switchboards, HV/LV motors, ECS, and PMS
Experience supporting maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, commissioning, and pre-commissioning activities for critical electrical equipment
Experience managing service contracts and interfacing with power grid stations or power providers
Required Skills:
Good knowledge of CMIMS (Computerized Maintenance & Inspection Management System)
Strong technical knowledge of MV and HV electrical systems in an operational site environment
Ability to support maintenance activities across VFD motors, power distribution systems, heat tracing systems, PV farm equipment, battery systems, UPS, electrical control panels, MCC, switchgears, PLCs, MOVs, CBs, diesel generators, building electrical systems, lighting systems, air compressors, nitrogen generators, fire heaters, heat exchangers, and electric heaters
Ability to prepare and review complex PTW dossiers and operational procedures
Capability to analyse malfunctions, establish diagnoses, and contribute to corrective action plans
Ability to support technicians, coordinate on-the-job training, and contribute to team development
Strong analytical, organisational, and autonomous working capability
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Good knowledge of HSE practices and safe working principles in an operational environment
Required Certifications:
Certified MV and HV engineer
