About the Role

This is an onsite role in a gas plant at Curtis Island, Gladstone QLD on a 6-months’ contract, Monday to Friday, 5 days a week.

The Senior HSE Advisor will provide expert advice and frontline assurance to the operations team. The role partners with operations, maintenance, projects, and major contractors to embed safe systems of work, drive continuous improvement in HSE performance, and ensure compliance with the standards, requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert HSE support and risk-based advice to operations.

  2. Conduct health risk assessments and recommend effective controls.

  3. Analyse HSE data, audits, and monitoring results to identify trends and improvements.

  4. Lead HSE audits, inspections, investigations, and corrective action management.

  5. Support HSE training, competency verification, and emergency response readiness.

  6. Prepare reports and regulatory compliance documentation, including environmental and occupational hygiene programs.

  7. Build stakeholder relationships and mentor team members while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills/Experience

Required

  • Degree in HSE, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.

  • 8-10+ years' HSE experience in LNG, oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or major hazard facilities.

  • Knowledge of Queensland WHS/environmental legislation and HSE management systems.

  • Investigation lead certification (TapRooT® or equivalent).

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

  • Able to work in a remote LNG facility environment with a valid driver's licence.

Preferred

  • Professional HSE certification (e.g., CSP, NEBOSH, AIHS).

  • 10+ years' HSE experience in high-risk industries.

  • Experience with Major Hazard Facilities, Safety Cases, and Process Safety Management.
