Senior Materials and Corrosion Engineer (12 months contract)
Airswift is partnering with a leading energy operator to recruit a Principal / Senior Materials & Corrosion Engineer to join their Engineering & Technology team.
In this role, you will provide specialist technical expertise across materials selection, corrosion management, inspection and integrity to support developments, brownfield modifications, and technology initiatives. You will also play a key role in maintaining and enhancing global engineering standards and procedures.
This position requires strong technical judgement, stakeholder engagement and the ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary workloads while aligning with project and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical advice on materials selection, corrosion management, coatings, insulation, welding, NDT and pressure equipment inspection
- Develop fit-for-purpose materials engineering solutions to complex operational and project challenges
- Deliver materials, corrosion and inspection scopes across a global portfolio, including planning and prioritisation activities
- Prepare and review technical deliverables such as design basis documents, specifications, scopes of work and management of change documentation
- Support project execution through contractor and vendor engagement across design, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning and handover
- Perform technical assurance and resolve discipline-related issues during all project phases
- Collaborate closely with project teams, Technical Authorities, integrity teams and subject matter experts to ensure consistent engineering outcomes
- Contribute to cost optimisation initiatives through materials and inspection strategies
- Support HSEQ, process safety, integrity management and continuous improvement throughout the asset lifecycle
Requirements
- Degree in Materials Engineering or a related discipline
- Postgraduate qualification in corrosion, metallurgy or welding engineering, or equivalent practical expertise
- Significant industry experience (20+ years) in materials, corrosion, coatings, welding, NDT and inspection within oil & gas or related energy sectors
- Strong understanding of relevant industry codes, standards and regulatory requirements
- Proven experience supporting both projects and operating assets, including brownfield environments
- Exposure to offshore assets and execution phases such as construction and commissioning is advantageous
- Familiarity with asset integrity systems (e.g. Bentley APM) is beneficial
- Professional certifications such as API 510, API 570, API 580, API 653 and/or NACE CIP (or equivalent) are highly regarded
