Senior Metering Engineer
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, reliability, and compliance of metering systems throughout project development and start-up phases. The position supports the successful delivery of projects by ensuring metering systems meet operational, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
Key Job Accountabilities
1. Metering Engineering and Standards
Develop and implement comprehensive metering plans for projects, ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and project specifications. Establish and maintain engineering specifications and standards for metering systems and instrumentation.
2. Project Integration
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams to integrate metering systems into facility designs, ensuring operational, contractual, and performance requirements are achieved.
3. Installation, Calibration and Testing
Coordinate the installation, calibration, commissioning, and testing of metering systems and instruments to ensure measurement accuracy, reliability, and operational readiness.
4. Compliance and Performance Assurance
Conduct audits, inspections, and performance assessments of metering systems to identify improvement opportunities and verify compliance with operational, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
5. Metering Equipment Integrity
Provide technical expertise regarding the selection, integrity, reliability, and performance of metering equipment. Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure procured equipment meets quality and project requirements.
6. Contracts and Budget Support
Develop technical specifications, scopes of work, and engineering requirements for metering-related contracts. Support tender evaluations, budget preparation, audits, and contract administration activities as required.
7. Regulatory and External Interface Management
Coordinate with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, vendors, and specialist service providers to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
8. Risk Assessment and Project Readiness
Partner with operations, engineering, and project teams to perform risk assessments and mitigation planning, with a focus on safety, reliability, environmental performance, and operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation or electronics engineering.
- Six (6) years of experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, process plant or power plant with a minimum of four (4) years in the field of flow measurement and metering.
- Competent in various engineering software tools related to flow measurement and metering like Kelton flow calculation, S600 flow computer applications etc.
- Aware of ISO standards on flow measurement.
