Pre Commissioning & Commissioning Engineer (P.Eng)
Opportunity with an industry?leading client specializing in advanced pre?commissioning and industrial cleaning services. Based in Edmonton, AB with approximately 50% travel.
Role Overview
This engineering role is responsible for the design, planning, and technical development of temporary systems and methodologies used in industrial cleaning and pre commissioning activities. The work focuses on engineering calculations, temporary piping design, procedure development, and technical oversight for specialized service lines including chemical cleaning, steam and air blows, oil flushing, nitrogen services, hydrotesting, and fluid?system preparation.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & System Design
- Engineer temporary piping systems for cleaning, flushing, blowing, purging, and hydrotesting activities.
- Perform hydraulic and flow calculations including velocity targets, pressure drop, pump sizing, and system performance modelling.
- Develop engineered cleaning circuits, flow paths, isolation boundaries, and system readiness requirements.
- Produce P&IDs, isometric sketches, and engineered workpacks for temporary systems.
Procedure & Technical Documentation

Develop engineered procedures for:
- Chemical cleaning
- Steam blows
- Air blows
- Oil flushing
- Nitrogen purging/inerting
- Hydrotesting
- Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and execution plans.
- Support system readiness checks, turnover documentation, and engineering reporting.
Project & Field Engineering Support
- Provide engineering support to field execution teams during pre commissioning and industrial cleaning activities.
- Validate temporary system configurations, equipment setups, and installation quality against engineered requirements.
- Participate in technical reviews, hazard assessments, and readiness verifications.
- Travel to client sites as required (approximately 50%).
Qualifications
- P.Eng in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering.
- Experience with temporary piping, fluid systems, industrial cleaning, or pre?commissioning engineering.
- Strong understanding of pressure systems, piping design, and cleaning/blow/flush methodologies.
- Ability to perform detailed flow, pressure, and hydraulic calculations.
- Experience preparing engineered procedures, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50%.
