The Project
We are supporting a major player in the Oil & Gas industry in the search for a Senior Project Engineer to manage critical Process and Rotating Equipment packages on a large-scale international project.
This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced project professional with a strong background in Project Engineering, Project Management, or Package Management, capable of coordinating multiple stakeholders across engineering, procurement, construction, suppliers, and client teams.
You will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of complex technical packages while meeting project objectives related to schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
The Role
As a Senior Project Engineer – Process & Rotating Packages, you will play a key role in driving the execution of major project packages throughout the project lifecycle.
You will act as the focal point between engineering disciplines, procurement teams, construction personnel, vendors, and clients, ensuring seamless coordination and successful package delivery.
This is a leadership-focused role requiring strong project execution capabilities rather than a purely technical engineering background.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the development and management of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Ensure package execution remains aligned with project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
- Monitor project performance and progress against key milestones.
- Identify potential delays and implement corrective actions where required.
- Provide regular project reporting to senior management.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate activities between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Manage technical interfaces across project disciplines.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution.
- Organize and lead coordination meetings.
- Ensure all project requirements are effectively addressed.
Process & Rotating Equipment Package Management
- Oversee the full lifecycle of assigned packages.
- Monitor supplier performance and package progress.
- Review technical deliverables and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Support procurement and vendor management activities.
- Ensure on-time delivery of package milestones and documentation.
Risk Management & Decision Support
- Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility assessments, and risk reviews.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks.
- Support project decision-making with technical and commercial considerations.
- Develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on schedule and budget.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as a key interface between clients, contractors, suppliers, and project teams.
- Participate in project reviews and progress meetings.
- Maintain clear and effective communication throughout all project phases.
- Ensure alignment between project stakeholders and business objectives.
Leadership & Mentoring
- Provide guidance and support to junior project engineers.
- Promote project engineering best practices across the team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development of project engineering capabilities within the organization.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Project Engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proven experience in Project Management, Project Engineering, or Package Management.
- Strong track record managing Process and/or Rotating Equipment packages.
- Experience working on EPC and/or EPCM projects.
- Previous professional experience within Europe is essential.
- Experience working within international and multidisciplinary project environments.
Important Note
Candidates whose background is primarily focused on core engineering, detailed design engineering, or technical specialist roles without package/project management responsibilities will not be considered suitable for this position.
