Senior SMP Estimator
Location: Applecross, WA
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time
Hours: 7.6 hours per day, Monday to Friday
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior SMP Estimator to join a leading construction and engineering company based in Applecross. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in securing and delivering major projects across the mining, resources, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.
Working closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for SMP projects.
- Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and client scopes of work.
- Complete quantity take-offs and develop labour, material, plant, and subcontractor pricing.
- Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Develop project methodologies, assumptions, clarifications, and exclusions.
- Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender phase.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the bid process.
- Assist with project handovers following successful tender awards.
- Maintain estimating databases and contribute to process improvements and estimating best practices.
About You
- Proven experience estimating SMP projects within mining, resources, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.
- Relevant trade qualification, engineering degree, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong understanding of Australian Standards, industrial construction methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Sound knowledge of labour productivity, material pricing, subcontractor management, and project costing.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
