About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Integrity Engineer supporting sustaining capital mining projects and industrial assets. This role will provide technical leadership in assessing, maintaining, and improving the integrity and reliability of structural assets throughout their lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing structural risk, developing inspection and maintenance strategies, conducting fitness-for-service assessments, and delivering practical engineering solutions to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead structural integrity assessments for steel, concrete, and other structural assets.
- Perform fitness-for-service (FFS), remaining life, and structural reliability evaluations.
- Review inspection findings and provide recommendations for repair, remediation, and life extension.
- Conduct structural analysis to assess defects, degradation mechanisms, fatigue, corrosion, and damage.
- Develop and implement structural inspection, monitoring, and maintenance programs.
- Support asset integrity management systems and risk-based inspection methodologies.
- Provide technical input for brownfield projects, modifications, and capital upgrades.
- Investigate structural failures and identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and scopes of work.
About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartership.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in structural engineering, preferably within mining, oil & gas, energy, heavy industry, or infrastructure sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in structural integrity and asset management programs.
- Strong knowledge of structural design, assessment, and fitness-for-service methodologies.
- Experience conducting structural inspections and interpreting inspection data.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software and engineering assessment tools.
- Strong understanding of fatigue, corrosion, degradation, and failure mechanisms.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
