Position Overview

This opportunity is for a Senior Structural Mooring Designer to support the delivery of high-quality design solutions focused on safety, reliability, and sustainability. The Senior Structural Mooring Designer will play an important role in producing clear and accurate design outputs that support project success and long-term operational objectives. This position offers the chance to work closely with engineers and design professionals on technically demanding work within the Oil & Gas sector. The Senior Structural Mooring Designer will also contribute to design coordination, interface management, and the timely delivery of key project activities.

Role Context

This role sits within the Oil & Gas industry and is focused on structural mooring design activities across concept development, detailed design, systems engineering, site engineering, and analysis. The working environment involves close collaboration with engineers, other designers, lead designers, and package engineers to support coordinated project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop design solutions in line with specifications, international codes, company standards, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Use technical knowledge and design software tools to produce clear and accurate design information that can be correctly interpreted by project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and lead designers to share information, support design intent, and resolve design conflicts.
  • Plan and complete assigned activities and deliverables within agreed timeframes while maintaining awareness of system interfaces.
  • Escalate unresolved design issues to the lead designer or engineer to reduce delays and support project schedules.
  • Apply lessons learned and recognise the impact of changes across project and system boundaries.
  • Work with package engineers to support the timely review of vendor documentation and provide comments to the required quality standard.
  • Provide guidance to designers within the assigned scope of work and, where required, act as lead designer for that scope.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design, or a related field.
  • Essential: 5 to 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Essential: Experience in structural mooring engineering design and calculation tools.
  • Essential: Technical capability in concept development, detailed design, systems engineering, site engineering, and analysis.
  • Essential: Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills within a design environment.
  • Essential: Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and support quality technical delivery.
  • Desirable: Experience leading designers on an assigned scope of work.
  • Desirable: Exposure to innovation-focused engineering and design activities.
