Position Overview

This opportunity is for a Senior Structural Mooring Designer to deliver high-quality design solutions focused on safety, reliability, and sustainability. The Senior Structural Mooring Designer will contribute to engineering and design activities across structural and mechanical assemblies within a technically demanding project environment. This position offers the chance to work closely with engineers, designers, managers, contractors, and subcontractors while supporting complex design execution. The role is well suited to a technically strong Senior Structural Mooring Designer seeking broad scope, accountability, and involvement in detailed engineering work.

Role Context

This company operates within the oil and gas industry and is seeking support for structural mooring engineering design activities. The role sits within a collaborative engineering environment involving designers, engineers, managers, contractors, and subcontractors. The position covers design studies, detailed design, document checking, and coordination across project interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop design solutions in line with project specifications, applicable regulations, international codes, and industry standards.
  • Produce and review 3D models and 2D drawings for structural and mechanical assemblies.
  • Carry out design studies and detailed design work for structural mooring scope, including plates and beams.
  • Ensure design intent is clearly communicated and coordinate with engineers, designers, and lead designers to resolve design conflicts.
  • Plan and complete assigned activities and deliverables within agreed timeframes while maintaining awareness of system interfaces and project priorities.
  • Support vendor document review activities in collaboration with package engineers, ensuring feedback is timely and of the required quality.
  • Perform document checking and maintain high technical accuracy across design deliverables.
  • Prepare supporting technical materials such as presentations and structured project documentation where required.
  • Escalate unresolved technical or delivery issues to the appropriate engineering or design lead to minimise delays.
  • Provide guidance across assigned scope and, where required, act in a lead capacity for design activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design, or a related field.
  • Essential: 5 to 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Essential: Previous experience with CAD software and the ability to manage complex models rigorously.
  • Essential: Strong structural or mechanical design capability, including structural connections, welding, fabrication, dimensioning, and 2D/3D design.
  • Essential: Experience producing and checking engineering drawings and supporting detailed design activities.
  • Essential: Ability to manage priorities, work autonomously, solve problems, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Desirable: Engineering degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering or fabrication qualification.
  • Desirable: Around 10 years of engineering experience.
  • Desirable: Previous structural design experience.
  • Desirable: Experience with CATIA 3Dx, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Excel, VBA, and Python.
