Position Overview
This opportunity is for a Senior Survey Engineer to support offshore survey and cable tracking operations on technically demanding subsea projects. The Senior Survey Engineer will play a key role in survey system integration, mobilisation, calibration, operational delivery, and survey data quality assurance. This position is suited to a technically strong Senior Survey Engineer who can work confidently across ROV-based survey environments and support accurate offshore positioning and reporting. The role offers the chance to contribute to specialist offshore work within the subsea cable tracking sector.
Role Context
This role sits within the offshore energy and marine survey sector, supporting cable tracking projects involving ROV-based survey operations. The working environment includes offshore mobilisation, system commissioning, survey execution, and project reporting activities. The position is focused on subsea survey delivery across offshore operations where accurate positioning, calibration, and cable tracking performance are critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate and configure survey and navigation sensors installed on ROV platforms.
- Define and verify system geometry, offsets, reference points, and sensor layouts during mobilisation activities.
- Support offshore system commissioning and carry out mobilisation checks and acceptance-related verification activities.
- Operate navigation and acquisition software including EIVA NaviSuite, Qinsy, or equivalent survey systems.
- Configure and monitor positioning and survey equipment including INS, DVL, USBL, and cable tracking systems.
- Monitor survey data quality and positioning performance in real time during offshore operations.
- Execute sensor alignment and calibration procedures to verify system geometry and positioning accuracy.
- Operate and monitor cable tracking systems such as TSS 440, TSS 350, TSS 660, or equivalent.
- Identify, track, and report cable position and Depth of Burial as part of offshore survey delivery.
- Manage raw survey data, perform quality control, and produce survey charts, cable tracking reports, daily progress reports, and final survey documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Offshore survey experience in cable tracking projects.
- Essential: Experience with ROV-based survey operations.
- Essential: Familiarity with TSS cable tracking equipment.
- Essential: Experience with EIVA NaviSuite and/or Qinsy.
- Essential: Valid STCW certification.
- Essential: Offshore medical certificate.
- Essential: Good command of English.
- Desirable: Previous demonstrable experience in subsea cable tracking operations using TSS 440 or equivalent electromagnetic cable tracking systems.
