Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior System Engineer – System Infrastructure to support the development of advanced electrified powertrain and high-voltage inverter systems within the automotive sector.
This role will act as a technical focal point for customer interactions, system concept development, and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines. Working closely with hardware, software, calibration, safety, and test teams, you will be responsible for delivering robust system infrastructure functions and ensuring system-level performance throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Own the development and delivery of system infrastructure functions for HV inverters and electrified powertrain systems
Develop robust system concepts and requirements considering quality, cost, timing, performance, and customer expectations
Act as the technical focal point for assigned functions, leading discussions with customers and project stakeholders
Coordinate activities across hardware, software, calibration, safety, and testing teams
Perform root cause analysis and define effective system-level solutions for technical defects and issues
Support Functional Safety activities, including Technical Safety Concepts, SFMEA, and FTA in accordance with ISO 26262
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance across project teams
Report technical status, risks, and mitigation plans to engineering and project management teams
Participate in customer meetings and support technical discussions throughout project execution
Support system integration, verification, and validation activities
Requirements
Master's degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
Minimum 10 years' experience in automotive system development within HV Inverters, Power Electronics, or Electrified Powertrain Systems
Strong expertise in HV inverter infrastructure functions, including power supplies and microcontroller safety mechanisms
Strong Systems Engineering background covering requirements development, system architecture, integration, verification, and validation
Proven technical leadership and experience driving complex technical topics to completion
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis capabilities
Knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and High Voltage Safety requirements
Experience working directly with automotive OEMs and managing technical stakeholder discussions
Excellent communication skills in English; German language skills are advantageous
Experience using Polarion, JIRA, Enterprise Architect, and MATLAB/Simulink is beneficial
Strong customer focus, accountability, and ownership mindset
Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and international engineering teams
Comfortable working within fast-paced automotive development environments
