Job Description:
An excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Telecoms Engineer (Data Center) to take on a key technical leadership role within major data centre and mission-critical infrastructure projects. The Senior Telecoms Engineer (Data Center) will act as the Telecommunications Discipline Lead, with responsibility for the design, coordination and delivery of ICT and extra-low-voltage systems.
The Senior Telecoms Engineer (Data Center) will lead the design of telecommunications, ICT and ELV systems including structured cabling, fibre infrastructure, networks, security systems and audiovisual systems. This position will be responsible for developing discipline-specific design strategies, technical standards and engineering solutions aligned with project and operational requirements.
The Senior Telecoms Engineer (Data Center) will review and approve engineering drawings, design calculations, technical specifications and associated deliverables, while providing technical direction across multiple projects and resolving complex engineering challenges. The role will also involve leading, supervising and mentoring telecom engineers and designers to maintain quality, consistency and compliance.
In project delivery, the Senior Telecoms Engineer (Data Center) will manage telecom engineering scope, schedules, quality and discipline budgets. The position will coordinate closely with clients, operators, consultants, equipment vendors and relevant authorities, while leading technical workshops, design reviews and value-engineering discussions. Close collaboration with project managers and other engineering disciplines will be essential to support resource planning, scheduling and cost control.
The Senior Telecoms Engineer (Data Center) will also provide support during construction and commissioning by reviewing contractor shop drawings, responding to technical RFIs, carrying out site inspections and ensuring installed systems comply with approved designs, specifications and applicable standards.
Requirements:
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering or a related discipline, together with significant experience in telecommunications, ICT or ELV engineering design. Strong background knowledge in data centre or other mission-critical infrastructure projects is essential.
This opportunity is best suited to a technically strong engineering design professional with expertise in structured cabling, fibre networks, security systems, AV and associated low-voltage infrastructure. Knowledge of BICSI, TIA/EIA, NFPA and relevant engineering codes is important, along with proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and BIM-based design coordination.
Preferred applicants for the Senior Telecoms Engineer (Data Center) role will bring previous experience as an ICT, Telecom or ELV Discipline Lead on major data centre projects. BICSI RCDD certification or equivalent and Professional Engineer or Licensed Engineer registration would be advantageous.
The ideal Senior Telecoms Engineer (Data Center) will come from an engineering design consultancy or mission-critical infrastructure environment and will demonstrate strong technical leadership with end-to-end design delivery capability. This role is particularly suited to candidates with deep engineering design expertise rather than purely telecommunications operations, IT network administration or installation-focused backgrounds.
