Senior Trading Business Analyst (Contractor)
Primary Purpose of the Job
- Assist in the delivery of the strategic vision for company transformation, aligning it with long-term goals and architecture.
- Working with key stakeholders to elaborate requirements, design and implement efficient application solutions.
- Manage product backlogs and work with technical teams on implementation.
- Work collaboratively and bring parties together from within IT and the commercial functions.
- Work directly with the business teams, having a customer first approach and being able to communicate effectively with different levels and disciplines within the organisation.
- Assist with understanding the impact of business change and work with business teams to onboard and implement such change.
- Provide expert support and required technical services to COMPANY on related applications, in coordination with the other ICT entities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technology or finance subject from an internationally recognised university.
Experience & Skills
Industry Experience
- Minimum of 9 years of work experience in commodities trading with leading IOCs, trading houses, NOCs, or vendors in change, process, and technology.
C/ETRM & Trading Systems
- Strong C/ETRM experience in designing and implementing solutions to enhance trading strategies, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
- Experience with C/ETRM tools such as Openlink, TriplePoint, and Allegro is preferred.
- Product knowledge of Planlogic EOS, Veson Nautical IMOS and SAP is an advantage.
Commodity Trading & Market Knowledge
- Strong understanding of commodity markets (LNG is preferred), trading strategies, related organisation, processes, risk management principles and related technology solutions (C/ETRM, fleet management, trading platforms, market analytics, etc.).
- End-to-end, multidisciplinary knowledge is required in areas such as commodity trading, shipping and finance, with advanced knowledge of the front-to-back office trade lifecycle.
- Specialised experience in at least one area, such as physical LNG trading, cargo operations, shipping, derivative & emission trading, trading risk and finance, or portfolio optimisation.
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Ability to work with the unknown, own problems and make decisions.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
- Proven ability to manage backlog and relevant documentation with the development team.
Technology & Architecture
- Enthusiastic and passionate about technology as an enabler in commodities trading.
- Familiar with IT standards & best practices, architecture, integration, and methods.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, and ability to communicate concepts as appropriate to management, stakeholders and vendors.
Tools & Applications
- High proficiency with workplace applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, Azure DevOps / Confluence Jira, Miro / Mural, etc.).
- Comfortable in working with SQL queries and Excel.
Project Management & Delivery Methodologies
- Practical experience with agile frameworks, PMP or PRINCE2 is an advantage.
