Position Overview

This opportunity is for a Site Electrical Engineer supporting a major onshore LNG development during site execution and transition to commissioning. The Site Electrical Engineer will provide technical oversight across LV, MV and HV electrical activities, helping to ensure safe delivery, technical integrity and compliance with project specifications and recognised standards. This position offers broad interface exposure across construction, QA/QC, HSE and commissioning teams on a complex multi-package project. For candidates seeking a technically demanding Site Electrical Engineer role with significant site-based responsibility, this position offers excellent scope and impact.

Role Context

The role is based within the oil and gas / LNG sector on a world-scale onshore LNG development comprising two LNG trains, utilities, condensate and LNG storage, marine facilities and major site infrastructure. This Site Electrical Engineer position reports to the Electrical & Instrumentation Lead and supports electrical engineering and construction activities through pre-commissioning and energisation readiness. The working environment is a large, multi-EPC-package site with close coordination across multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide site technical support for LV, MV and HV electrical matters, ensuring engineering deliverables are correctly interpreted and implemented.

  • Review and assess key electrical documentation including single line diagrams, load lists, cable schedules, electrical layouts, grounding and bonding drawings, and hazardous area classification drawings.

  • Support construction activities covering cable installation, terminations, panels, transformers, motors, MCCs, UPS/IPS, lighting, earthing networks and substations.

  • Review inspection and test documentation including ITPs, method statements, checklists and test procedures.

  • Participate in inspections and walkdowns such as continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, torque checks and Ex equipment inspections.

  • Support resolution of Technical Queries, deviation requests, concession requests and non-conformance reports in coordination with contractors and engineering teams.

  • Assist with development and review of pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures, including pre-energisation checks and functional testing.

  • Verify test pack completion, punch-list close-out and readiness for energisation and system handover.

  • Coordinate with Civil, Mechanical, Instrumentation, QA/QC, HSE and Commissioning teams to address technical issues and support constructability.

  • Promote compliance with electrical safety requirements including LOTO, PTW and HV/LV isolation procedures, while reporting discipline risks, issues and progress.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential:

10+ years of electrical engineering experience on major oil and gas or LNG projects.

  • Essential:

Strong experience with power generation and power distribution systems across LV, MV and HV levels.

  • Essential:

In-depth knowledge of transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS/IPS, motors, lighting and earthing/grounding systems.

  • Essential:

Proven ability to review and interpret electrical engineering documentation including SLDs, load lists, cable schedules, layouts, grounding/bonding drawings and hazardous area drawings.

  • Essential:

Experience handling Technical Queries, deviation and concession requests, and non-conformance reports.

  • Essential:

Strong knowledge of IEC and IEEE electrical standards.

  • Essential:

Experience with inspection, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning support, pre-energisation checks and energisation readiness reviews.

  • Essential:

Strong application of electrical safety procedures including LOTO, PTW and HV/LV isolation procedures on live construction sites.

  • Essential:

Experience compiling as-built documentation and turnover dossiers for mechanical completion and pre-commissioning.

  • Desirable:

Familiarity with major operator electrical specifications, particularly TotalEnergies GS EP ELE series.
