Airswift is seeking an experienced Site Health & Safety Superintendent to support a major sustaining capital project within the resources sector. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this position plays a key role in driving safety performance across site activities while providing leadership and support to a team of Health & Safety professionals.

This is a hands-on site-based role requiring a strong balance of leadership, contractor engagement, safety governance, and field presence. The successful candidate will act as a key conduit between site contractors, HSE advisors, and project leadership, while also supporting the Health & Safety Manager and stepping into the role during periods of leave.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the project Health & Safety Management System.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to Senior HS Advisors, HS Advisors, and Safety Administrators.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all project and contractor personnel.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, field leadership activities, and critical control verifications.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action management.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with project requirements and WHS legislation.
  • Support the development and delivery of safety initiatives, training, and awareness programs.
  • Prepare and communicate HSE performance reports to project leadership.
  • Develop strong working relationships with contractors, client representatives, and project stakeholders.
  • Act in the Health & Safety Manager capacity during rostered leave periods.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Work Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Audit accreditation or relevant auditing qualifications.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in senior Health & Safety roles within construction, mining, or resources projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in incident management, risk assessment, and contractor safety compliance.
  • Familiarity with Critical Risk Management (CRM) systems and EPCM project environments.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence positive safety outcomes across diverse workgroups and contractors.
