The Role

Airswift is seeking an experienced SMP Supervisor to join a major industrial construction project in Kwinana. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating structural, mechanical, and piping activities while ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day site operations, manage work crews and subcontractors, and work closely with project stakeholders to ensure construction milestones are achieved.

The scope of works includes the construction and installation of structural steel supports, platforms, walkways, ladders, and handrails, along with the installation of mechanical equipment, process and utility piping systems, valves, pipe supports, insulation, and cladding. You will also oversee lifting, rigging, and access activities, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with approved procedures, site requirements, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily SMP construction activities on site.
  • Lead site crews and subcontractors to ensure safe and productive work practices.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure activities are completed in line with schedules and project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
  • Coordinate structural steel erection and installation activities.
  • Oversee mechanical equipment installation, alignment, and commissioning support activities.
  • Manage piping installation works, including fit-up, welding, testing, and commissioning preparation.
  • Coordinate insulation and cladding activities across piping, ducting, and equipment.
  • Supervise lifting and rigging operations and ensure all activities are performed in accordance with approved lift plans.
  • Liaise with project management, engineering, quality, and HSE teams to resolve site issues and maintain project progress.
  • Maintain accurate site records and provide regular progress updates.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an SMP Supervisor role within construction, mining, industrial, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising structural steel, mechanical installation, and piping construction activities.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, safety systems, and quality requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary work crews and subcontractors.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Trade Qualification or relevant construction industry background.
  • Current White Card.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Section 26 Statutory Supervisor qualification or equivalent supervisory qualification is advantageous.
