Job Title: SPS Engineering Lead
Duration: 1 year initial contract
Location: Bristol, UK during detailed engineering phase, latterly Baku, Azerbaijan
Schedule: Monday-Friday

This opportunity sits within a major offshore gas and condensate development in the Caspian Sea, supporting subsea production systems engineering through EPFS execution. The role offers broad technical scope across Subsea Trees, Wellheads, Running Tools and associated SPS hardware and control systems, with involvement spanning procurement, fabrication, testing, installation, commissioning and handover. This position will play a key part in maintaining technical integrity, managing multidisciplinary interfaces and supporting safe, compliant project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate all SPS engineering activities during Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Start-up phase execution.
  • Act as the primary engineering focal point for Subsea Trees, Wellheads, Running Tools, installation equipment and associated SPS hardware and control systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and supervision to SPS engineers and discipline specialists.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are issued, reviewed and approved in line with project schedules.
  • Manage contractor engineering performance and support contract compliance.
  • Lead technical review meetings with contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
  • Support procurement, fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, commissioning and handover requirements through effective engineering coordination.
  • Oversee resolution of technical queries, non-conformances, concessions and design deviations.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, analyses, procedures and design documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with project specifications, international codes and industry standards.
  • Lead multidisciplinary interface management involving subsea controls, flowlines, pipelines, structures, drilling, completions and operations teams.
  • Coordinate engineering support for supplier manufacturing, FAT, SIT, EFAT, IST and offshore installation campaigns.
  • Lead technical risk identification, mitigation and management activities.
  • Support technical decision-making, execution strategies, fabrication plans and installation methodologies.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations, supplier assessments and equipment qualification reviews.
  • Support readiness of SPS systems for commissioning, start-up and project handover.
  • Assign engineering deliverables, monitor progress and promote consistent engineering practices.
  • Provide mentoring, competency development and day-to-day leadership across the engineering team.
  • Follow HSE requirements and contribute actively to safe working practices, reporting and continuous improvement.

Required Education & Certifications:

  • Engineering or Master’s degree in Drilling, Subsea, Mechanical Engineering or another relevant recognised qualification 

Required Experience:

  • Extensive experience in oil and gas projects, specialising in Subsea Production Systems packages with a detailed knowledge of subsea systems and subsea hardware engineering
  • Demonstrated experience leading SPS engineering teams on major offshore developments 
  • Significant experience with Subsea Trees, Wellheads, Running Tools and SPS hardware package delivery 
  • Strong experience across EPC or EPFS project execution 
  • Proven involvement in procurement, fabrication, testing and offshore installation phases 
  • Experience managing suppliers, contractors and multidisciplinary interfaces 

Preferred Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with Baker Hughes SPS systems 
  • Previous experience with Total Energies operating environment 
  • Experience in Caspian Sea developments
