Job Title: SPS Topside Control Engineer
Duration: 1 year initial contract
Location: Celle, Germany
Schedule: Residential, on-site, no remote working

This opportunity supports an ultra-deepwater subsea production systems development within the energy sector, focused on topside standalone subsea control system architecture, software integration, and commissioning activity at vendor site.

The role will be based at vendor site and manage the hardware and software development of the Subsea production Control System carried out by the SPS Contractor (from design to handover to FPSO).  This position is well suited to candidates with strong SPCS expertise who want to contribute to a technically complex, multi-contractor international project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure engineering, testing, manufacturing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities comply with project requirements, applicable standards, and company rules.
  • Oversee subsea control system software and hardware activities including MCS, OCWR, HMI, alarm management, remote access, and cyber security.
  • Support integration of topside and subsea software with PLC-based control systems, SCADA/HMI platforms, subsea sensors, actuators, and power distribution components.
  • Coordinate software behaviour with hydraulic, electrical, and electro-hydraulic control philosophies.
  • Review and validate contractor documentation, technical queries, and derogation requests, identifying deviations and unjustified design choices.
  • Ensure alignment on ICSS interfacing details with associated project interfaces.
  • Promote safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective operation of the control system through the full project lifecycle.
  • Participate in engineering reviews including HAZID and HAZOP and contribute to quality and project reviews.
  • Supervise qualification, testing, inspection, integration, installation, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Monitor contractor performance against contractual technical requirements in all areas related to subsea production control systems.
  • Liaise with technical stakeholders and parallel project packages to maintain overall subsea production system consistency.
  • Provide regular progress and study reporting to project leadership and maintain confidentiality of project documentation.
  • Capture and report lessons learned from execution activities.
  • Support full compliance with H3SE&Q requirements and highlight potential deviations, anomalies, incidents, and near misses.

Required Education & Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Required)
  • Engineering diploma / qualification (Required)

Required Experience:

  • Extensive experience in deepwater SPCS, including project and execution phases (Required)
  • Experience in ultra-deepwater subsea production systems and interface management across SPS, SURF, drilling, and FPSO packages (Required)
  • Experience supervising development, testing, integration, installation, and commissioning activities for control systems (Required)

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of control systems, subsea operations, and subsea production system disciplines (Required)
  • Sound knowledge of coding (Required)
  • Experience with software and hardware elements including MCS, OCWR, HMI, alarm management, remote access, and cyber security (Required)
  • Ability to support integration with PLC-based control systems, SCADA/HMI platforms, subsea sensors, actuators, and power distribution components (Required)
  • Sound knowledge of company rules and international standards relevant to subsea production systems (Required)
  • English language communication skills suitable for working in a multicultural environment (Required)
