We are working with a Major Oil & Gas operator to source for
Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Umbilical & Power Cable)
to work for Multi-Billion Offshore Redevelopment Project consist of Greenfield & Brownfield scope). This is a long-term contract role working on a residential basis 5-days per week / 8-9 hours per day. Please see details below:
Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Umbilical & Power Cable)
Start Date: Negotiable (typically within 1 month notice)
Duration: 36 months (potential for extension)
Location: Doha HQ with site visits
Working Schedule: 5-days per week / 8-9 hours per day
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Chartered Engineer/ Professional Engineer status or equivalent is preferable
Experience:
- Have minimum 12 years relevant post graduate experience in Oil & Gas Industry, of which 10 years should be related to subsea umbilical and cable design and engineering.
- Must be an Expert in design & engineering of subsea umbilicals.
- Have worked in at least 2 major offshore EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation & Commissioning) Oil & Gas projects with direct responsibility for umbilical and Power cables package delivery.
- Have PMT / PMC experience and able to manage EPIC Contractors / Vendors in discipline related activities for large-scale Projects.
- Have extensive experience in working with relevant umbilical design codes and standards (ISO, API, Shell DEPs).
- Have extensive experience in umbilical manufacturing and testing with proven ability in reviewing documents with respect to quality and safety and compliance to project design basis and standards.
- Able to make recommendations for approval or rejection of technical deviations/Change Requests.
- Able to resolve technical challenges and liaison with other relevant disciplines and external stakeholders.
- Previous work experience for an umbilical manufacturer is preferable.
- Have experience in subsea umbilical crossing design, loadout, installation, and J-tube pulling operations.
- Have experience in power cable crossing design, loadout, installation, shore approach, and shore pulling analysis.
- Experience in and understanding of subsea umbilical pre-commissioning / commissioning operations
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical design and engineering services in subsea umbilical and power cable Engineering (Offshore) for all assigned engineering projects. Achieving the technical quality of work in accordance with Company procedures, whilst considering quality, schedule, cost and HSE.
- Conduct Umbilical and Power Cable Engineering (Offshore) activities of in-house site surveys for projects, from initial concept definition phase through to; engineering studies, FEED, detailed design and commissioning.
- Ensure the required Company technical assurance practices, engineering standards, environmental and safety policies are incorporated and followed, in workscopes and whilst conducting Pipeline Engineering (Offshore) activities. Review technical deviations and variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards and practices.
- Support Engineering Department to review, update and apply Company standards and amendments to external standards.
- Plan and co-ordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers for providing timely delivery of technical services to meet the project requirements.
- Co-ordinate engineering designs, develop and review multi-disciplinary work- scopes for projects and other engineering activities. Ensure that the work-scope is comprehensive and clear.
- Develop offshore subsea facilities engineering scope of works and deliverables list for FEED and detail engineering stage.
- Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organisations for scope compliance. Liaise with contracted organisations to resolve technical issues.
- Develop, update and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities, contribute to external FEED/EPIC scheduling activities and effective project delivery.
- Conduct evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance. To review and comment on Package Vendor documents.
- Review and evaluate the Contract Changes/Variation to approved guidelines and practices.
- Act as the focal point for technical matters and take a lead role on behalf of Company on matters associated with subsea facilities.
- Work seamlessly with Company’s project team, to support the execution of subsea facilities, tie ins and systems integrations.
- Ensure the testing program, plans and procedures for all Subsea facilities deliver technical integrity assurance of all system interfaces prior to shipment for installation.
- Ensure interfaces between project Contractors and other stake holders are effectively managed. These include Operations & Maintenance department, Topsides and Drilling Contractors.
- Provide onshore and offshore technical support during onshore and offshore project construction, commissioning and startup activities.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and training to less experienced Subsea Engineers in the wider organisation.
