One of our clients, a major oil and gas company has tasked us with finding a Storekeeper to support warehouse operations in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a 6-month contract with a high possibility of becoming a permanent position. The role will work either a Monday to Friday day shift (6:30 AM to 3:00 PM) or night shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM), with potential for overtime and on-call support as required.
The Storekeeper is responsible for executing product and material handling activities within the warehouse while ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and QHSE standards. This position plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting shipping and receiving functions, and ensuring materials are available to meet operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, label, receive, store, pick, pack, issue, and dispose of inventory items in accordance with company procedures.
- Accept supplier deliveries and verify that materials received match packing lists and purchase orders while confirming items are received in satisfactory condition.
- Report shipment discrepancies, damages, or shortages in a timely manner.
- Prepare outgoing inventory items for shipment, ensuring materials are properly packed and accompanied by accurate documentation.
- Perform inventory cycle counts and support periodic physical inventory activities.
- Support kitting, Kanban replenishment, and other materials management initiatives.
- Investigate and help resolve inventory and warehouse discrepancies as directed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through SAP and other warehouse management systems.
- Optimize warehouse bin locations to improve efficiency, accessibility, and safety.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within warehouse and shipping/receiving areas.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment following training and certification requirements.
- Perform additional warehouse-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a warehouse, storekeeping, inventory control, or materials handling role.
- Hands-on experience using SAP for inventory and warehouse transactions.
- Valid forklift certification/license.
- Experience with shipping, receiving, inventory management, and cycle counting activities.
- Ability to read and verify packing lists, purchase orders, and shipping documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to lift materials and perform physical warehouse duties as required.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliation activities.
- Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, energy, or oil and gas environment.
